Software Development Engineer, Mechatronics & Sustainable Packaging

Mechatronics & Sustainable Packaging (MSP) powers the physical engine at the heart of Amazon. MSP builds and operates software, hardware, and processes that run the global network of fulfillment centers that move many millions of units of inventory, employ tens of thousands of people, and ensure that customers get what they want when we promised we would get it to them.

We do this by building automated solutions to handle things that technology does well, while relying on people to handle things that humans do well. The MSP Sortation teams build and maintain core software and services in Amazon Fulfillment Centers that help move billions of items and packages across our network and to our customers in the most efficient way possible. If you've ever bought something from Amazon, there's a very good chance that our software was directly involved in getting it to you.

Key job responsibilities
As a member of this team, you will get the opportunity to own and deliver highly visible, innovative projects that directly impact the customer experience. You will be involved in driving the technical and architectural vision for a core team that touches every Amazon package, as well as all the aspects of the software development cycle including scoping, design, implementation, testing & delivery of our product. This position has great opportunity for growth as Amazon increasingly expands its fulfillment center operations.

We are looking for individuals who are passionate about creating new products, features, and services from scratch while managing ambiguity and the pace of a company where development cycles are measured in weeks, not years.

About the team
Mechatronics & Sustainable Packaging (MSP) powers Amazon's global fulfillment network. We invent and deliver software, hardware, and data science solutions that orchestrate processes, robots, machines, and people. We harmonize the physical and virtual world so Amazon customers can get what they want, when they want it.

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
