Job Title: HTC Data Analyst Department: Medicine | IM Hematology

POSITION SUMMARY: The Ohio State University Bleeding & Clotting Disorders Center Data Analyst will be responsible for providing database maintenance and analysis for the Hemophilia Treatment Center and working with ATHN to improve care and support vital research by having standardized data in a secure environment. The Data Analyst shall review and enter statistics from the Centers clinical team members on a regular basis, including entering patient data, inclusive of all diagnoses, seen by the Centers medical staff into ATHN Clinical Manager database. Reporting data for HRSA and CDC grants is also a key component of this position.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :

Bachelors degree and three years of electronic medical records and database experience or high school diploma/equivalent and five years of experience in the aforementioned areas.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES TYPICALLY NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS JOB SUCCESSFULLY:

Develop and maintain clinical database, collect data from multiple sources including electronic medical records, clinical and research staff. Knowledge of electronic medical records systems, particularly Epic/IHIS. Must be able to work efficiently and effectively with customized databases and technology. Must be able to work simultaneously with multiple Electronic Medical Record systems. Read, interpret, and apply regulations, policies and procedures. Attention to detail and the ability to deal with complex projects using critical thinking and appropriate decision making. Maintain awareness of details of clinical data to identify missing or inaccurate data; and track for inconsistencies for Clinical Research Team to review and report accordingly. Solid time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks. Ability to maintain confidentiality per HIPAA requirements. Ability to respectfully work and communicate within a diverse community. Work and communicate effectively from multiple locations as needed. Advanced computer skills (Excel, Power Point, Word, etc.) and comfort with spreadsheets. Actively participate in ongoing training and education as directed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience with electronic medical records software, Epic/IHIS preferred. Previous experience in a healthcare environment. Previous experience working with data involving electronic medical records, document management system, and/or clinical research databases. Experience working and communicating with a comprehensive, integrated care team. Significant creativity in problem solving.

DATABASE DUTIES:

  • Ensures that the data in ATHN Clinical Manager is updated in a timely manner.
  • Performs new patient registration, updates patient information, data entry of demographics, and any other required information.
  • Supports quality improvement efforts, and collecting and submitting data required for program evaluation by the regional collaborative, ATHN, HRSA, and CDC.
  • Review and verify information to ensure accuracy and consistency of reports. Will report any fluctuations in data to the Program Manager/and or research team.
  • Assists research staff in collecting and managing patient consents in ATHN Clinical Manager.
  • Responsible for ensuring integrity of information reported for the OSU BCDC.
  • Attend conferences, workshops, and webinars as required and through the duration of the HRSA and CDC grants.

Performance Standard: Ensures all data is collected from all sources and is entered in required databases in a timely manner. Willingly supports quality improvement efforts, ensures data integrity, and submits data as required for reports timely and accurately. Demonstrates a willingness to participate in trainings, webinars, and relevant conferences.

DATABASE ANAYLSIS DUTIES :

  • Compiles and analyzes information from standardized reports as requested by the HTC staff.
  • Assist the Program Manager and Medical Director with data related requests.
  • Serve as point of contact for statistical data inquiries as needed by the different divisions within the LCBCD.

Performance Standard: Demonstrates a willingness to compile and analyze information, assuring the integrity of data. Willingly serves as a point of contact for statistical data inquiries and assists Program Manager as needed.
