System Administrator

The System Administrator is responsible for the effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This role involves participating in technical research and development to enable continuous innovation within the infrastructure. The System Administrator consults with customers and users to make informed decisions on hardware and software to meet specification and performance criteria. Ensuring that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values is key to enabling staff and partners.

Responsibilities

  • Install and configure new or existing servers, workstations, laptops, and peripherals in accordance with standards and project requirements.
  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures for various software applications.
  • Set up printers and plotters as needed for engineering applications.
  • Contribute to and maintain system standards and deploy customer configuration databases for critical applications.
  • Perform daily system monitoring to verify the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes.
  • Review system and application logs and verify the completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
  • Create, change, and delete user accounts per request.
  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures and communicate with impacted stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with customer IT teams for application access requests and problem resolutions.
  • Assist the Network Operations team with network and telecom outages.
  • Identify and create test plans for new technologies and systems.
  • Create, enforce, and maintain IT security standards for all IT assets.
  • Apply OS patches and upgrades regularly and upgrade administrative tools and utilities as necessary.
  • Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures.
  • Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization.
  • Manage IT assets, including requests and reporting renewals for hardware and software maintenance.
Essential Skills
  • Associate's degree or higher is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Windows and SCCM.
  • Experience using IT service management tools like Service Now or Cherwell.
  • At least 1 year of experience in supporting engineering applications.
  • Experience working for engineering services or product companies.
  • Demonstrated experience in scripting and software tool development.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Strong administrative support and customer service skills.
  • Ability to install and configure servers, workstations, and laptops with hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, and storage.
Work Environment

The work environment involves working closely with technical teams and customers to ensure seamless operation of IT infrastructure. It includes managing both hardware and software resources, ensuring high system availability, and collaborating with other IT teams for troubleshooting and system improvement. Dress code is business casual.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $60000.00/yr.

$10,000 annual bonus potential, employee profit sharing program, 4 weeks paid time-off, 6 paid holidays, monthly cell phone allowance, 401(k) w/company match, M/D/V benefits
