Our retained client is looking for community minded, energetic, progressive individual to join its Application Services department which is responsible for planning, developing, and maintaining the business systems for our various British Columbia public sector clients. Many systems that are considered mission critical government applications used by over one million users in the province of British Columbia.

Primary Accountabilities:

Our retained has an immediate need for an Intermediate Linux Administrator.

Key skills include:

Administer Linux systems both physical and virtual
Monitor and maintain on-prem and cloud infrastructures
Manage networking infrastructure
Maintain end-user equipment, hardware, software, and supplies
Perform installation, implementation and upgrades of internal systems and software
Maintain documentation of procedures, operations and system configurations
Evaluate, implement and maintain security best practices across all systems
Help improve company productivity
Take initiative in finding solutions to problems
Knowledge-sharing and collaboration with the team
Participate in technical reviews and help develop best practices
Communicate maintenance and incidents to the company in a customer-focused manner
Communicate and coordinate with external partners

The main goals of the Intermediate Linux Administrator is to deliver agile and secure managed services on Kubernetes platforms, to continuously increase the level of automation and security, and to ensure high availability of the service, and to achieve a high level of customer satisfaction.

The Intermediate Linux Administrator is an experienced, multi skilled professional, who can work within a small team responsible for delivering reactive and proactive operational support end to end systems in a managed cloud environment.

The Intermediate Linux Administrator is motivated to take strong ownership of actions, to find innovative ways to improve the services agility and efficiency, and to continuously gain more skills. The managed Kubernetes environments are delivered using a mature DevOps delivery model.

ACCOUNTABILITIES/DELIVERABLES

1.Supports 24x7 operations of production services, platforms, and Kubernetes environments:
Includes monitoring, incident response, answering service requests, and execution of changes
2.Take full ownership of incoming actions and issues and drive them to resolution:
Working within a multi-skilled Platform Services Operations team;
Consulting with other team members to extend your reach to get to success
3.Proactively and continuously improve the service through:
driving further automation of repeatable tasks
improving monitoring metrics to detect incidents before they occur
fixing incident root causes by contributing code fixes or design changes back to the service specifications
4.Execute service requests logged by customers within scope of services
5.Leverage automation tools and Infrastructure as Code tools to maintain environment and execute changes while adhering to change management process
6.Understand and contribute to processes and tools used by team
7.Identify areas of operations with quality deficits or automation opportunities and work to improve
8.Contribute relevant automation and operation improvements back to development teams

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)

3 Years of Linux Administration Experience

Nice to Have Skills & Certifications:

Trained or Experienced and Certified in one or more cloud or Kubernetes capable platforms:

1.Red Hat OpenShift
2.Certified Kubernetes Administrator
3.Certified Kubernetes Application Developer
4.Microsoft Azure
5.Amazon Web Services (AWS)
6.Google Cloud Platform
7.Oracle Cloud Infrastructure
8.OpenStack

Expertise in two or more of the following technical domains: Linux, Database, Storage, Networks, Scripting, Security.
Previous experience in infrastructure or software automation delivery.
